Girl Scout Shop Procedures for
Volunteers
The Girl Scout Council Shops are
open to everyone, and have a variety of merchandise available. The shops are a resource for official Girl
Scout uniforms, gift items, books, badges, patches and other recognitions for
girls and adults. Items not normally
carried in inventory and available in the Girl Scout Catalog may be
ordered. Refer to the current Girl Scout
Catalog for correct item numbers and prices.
Only leaders and service unit
managers can purchase official insignia, badges and awards. Large quantities of pins and badges should be
ordered 4 to 6 weeks in advance to ensure receipt in a timely manner.
1.
Troops/Groups are allowed to file for a sales
tax exemption from the State of Tennessee. Service Units and day camps are exempt from
sales tax through the Council’s sales tax exemption. Purchases must be made with a check or troop
debit card drawn on a troop, group, service unit or day camp account. A copy of the troop/group sales tax exemption
certificate must be provided to the Council

Merchandise purchased for the troop/group
through a Council Shop will be charged the tax rate applicable to the location
in which merchandise is purchased, unless a tax exemption certificate is
provided to the Council and the purchase is made with a troop/group check or an
item is out-of-stock and is shipped outside of Tennessee

All mail orders shipped outside of Tennessee are tax-exempt
4.
Cash, check, money orders, cashier’s checks,
Master Card, Visa, and Discover are accepted for all purchases
5.
Make all checks, money orders or cashier’s check
payable to Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians, Inc. (GSCSA)
6.
Checks written directly to the Council for shop merchandise, programming, membership or other fees do not require two signatures..
7.
Mail orders are accepted with payment by check,
money order, cashier’s check or credit card.
DO NOT SEND CASH IN THE MAIL
8.
Orders placed by fax or email must include a credit card number
9.
All mailed, faxed, emailed or online orders will
be processed within 24 hours from date of receipt and later than 48 hours. Allow 5 to 7 business days for delivery
10.
Allow a minimum of 4-6 weeks for delivery of
special orders or out-of-stock merchandise
11.
If merchandise is out-of-stock you will be
notified within 24 hours from receipt of order
12.
All shipping and handling charges are consistent
with GSUSA shipping and handling charges.
These are listed on the shop order form.
13.
No returns, adjustments or exchanges will be
made after 30 days from date of shipment.
When making exchanges, sales slip is required
14.
No discontinued merchandise will be accepted for
exchange or refund
